Rita Schenkelberg receives Deschutes County Democratic Party endorsement for Bend City Council, Position 4

(Bend, Ore.) -- On August 3, 2020 Democratic Precinct Committee Persons in Deschutes County voted to endorse Rita Schenkelberg for Bend City Council, Position 4. “This is a huge milestone in my campaign,” said Schenkelberg, who filed for position 4 in early July.

“I see Bend growing and changing, and I am running because representation matters.” Schenkelberg’s priorities are advancing an equitable, sustainable community; solutions for affordable housing; and a safe, complete transportation system with investments in walking and biking. To date, Schenkelberg’s campaign has raised over $11,600 to help cover the cost of printing educational materials, lawn signs, and to translate information to Spanish. Residents and businesses can learn more about Schenkelberg’s priorities and donate to the campaign at ritaforbend.org. "I am supporting Rita because the Bend community needs passionate and energetic leaders like her,” said Councilor Gena Goodman-Campbell, who has endorsed Schenkelberg. “Rita's personal connection to issues like affordable housing and safe transportation will make her a thoughtful and effective City Councilor.” The Deschutes Democrats endorsed slate for Bend City Council also includes:

- Megan Perkins, Position 3 - Anthony Broadman, Position 2 - Melanie Kebler, Position 1
